A castle for a day is better than no castle at all, right?

Things seem quiet. So tell me about your world. Tell me what makes you wonder, if perhaps what you have there might be found elsewhere or even here. I will start.

Where I am from we have gryphons. They are a bit like a lion with an eagle's tail, face, talons, and wings. For many years I didn't know they existed in my world, much less on other worlds. To be honest, at the time I was unaware that other worlds even existed at all. I have come to learn Narnia is not the only place with gryphons and it's interesting to hear how different they are for other people.

But flying with a gryphon is still hard to match in excitement and majesty.

So tell me about unicorns or krakens, dragons or drop bears, and share with me what makes you wonder.

We seem to have griffins in our world, extremely rare though, and unicorns too I believe.

And I once had an extremely close encounter with a dragon. One I wouldn't really care to repeat.

What world is that?

We have unicorns too though...I haven't seen one with my own eyes yet, but I met one here, in this City.

I don't think we have those. I've read about them in books, but nothing about them actually being real on the news.

I caught a unicorn, once. I'd rather not think of dragons.

I don't suppose you've heard of the Related Worlds? It's rather difficult to explain if you haven't, there are so many of them.

Can't say I've met one myself, not yet. Met a tribe of mermaids once though! Very friendly, insisted that I was a type of creature called a 'clistoffer'. And I still feel dreadful over what Uncle Ralph did to them...

Perhaps your world isn't ready for gryphons.

You...caught one?

No, I haven't. What are the Related Worlds?

I know stories of mermaids but they haven't come to shore in Narnia, not in some time.

A witch made me capture one for her. I don't know what she intended to do with it, but in any case, I managed to set it free again afterward.

Oh, well that's good to hear. I knew only Lightfoot, when he came to the City.

My world is kind of boring if that's the case. We got aliens, dinosaurs, mutants and werewolf people, but no gryphons.

What's up, Cas?

Twelve series of worlds - strictly speaking, as far as we knew all worlds are supposed to be connected to them somehow. But this place is making me wonder.

Narnia is the name of your world, then? Or is it a country? Haven't ever heard of it.

I don't believe I ever encountered Lightfoot, myself. And I don't know if the one I captured had a name, either. But he was very gentle, and very sad.

Earth--or one of many Earths--is connected to Narnia, that is a world too...but also a land, north of Archenland and Calormen.

Which of the twelve is yours?

I've encountered a werewolf before but not those other things.

Up where?

Lightfoot said he was from Earth, or a place like Earth. That unicorn must have been happier when you set him free.

You're right, there are a lot of worlds that call themselves Earth - most do, actually, in my experience.

Series Twelve . It's supposed to be the least old of all of them, but it's old enough. I'm from the first world there.

Did the werewolf you meet wear a cowboy hat too? And you met aliens. And mutants, just not in Narnia, I think.

What's up as in what's going on with you. It's a saying!

I think he was. He certainly wasn't happy being kept in a pen. I felt awful about it, though.

Your world has twelve worlds within it separated from all other worlds like this one and even Narnia?

Date: 2009-06-11 10:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iknowmore.livejournal.com
Ah, no, not quite what I meant. There are twelve series of worlds, usually thought to have nine worlds to a series, though in some cases there are a lot more. I'm from Twelve A...it's how we number them in my world. Narnia could well be one of them, I haven't visited them all.

This place is something else though.

No, but he wore a cloak.

And that's true, not in Narnia, but I have.

Oh...nothing. What about you?

You did a good thing then, Rosella.

Then there are...one hundred and eight worlds where you come from?

Could he talk?

Nothing much really, but I'm making cookies. You're getting some and you can't say no because saying no isn't fair.
