treadingdawn: (Cas - over the shoulder)

The network is very busy today. Perhaps someone will entertain a search for meaning? I did have another strange dream and I invite all interpretations.

Anyway I think it was nice to see Trufflehunter, Bultitude, Pattertwig, and many others again.

[ooc: Just pretend he audio-narrated the entire questionably chemically induced sequence, with Caspian replacing Karl Marx |D Also, animals = Talking Beasts.]

It does stand out from many others, for better or worse.

It does, and I couldn't begin to guess its meaning either.

In any case I hope it brought a little bit of light to what many others have been experiencing today.

As peculiar and yet benign as it all seemed, perhaps it did.

Was it the ducks or the rhinos?

The ducks, I think, if you really want to know.

I do. They seem to have the best of two worlds, the sky and the water.

I just thought the way you described them was amusing.

Oh, yes well for them to swim or fly in form I am sure you can achieve that with Talking Ducks. I am not so certain about mute ducks.

I don't think one could achieve it with any kind of ducks.

You need only speak to them in a civil manner and hold them in no less regard than you would a hawk or eagle.

None of the ducks I've seen would listen so well as that.

You mean in the City? I have noticed there are less Talking Beasts in this world than in Narnia, that or they are elusive.

In my world and the City both, actually.

That's right, you are from England as well, a different one if I remember correctly.

So far as I can tell through my conversations with others from England.

So you have talking beasts in your world? I imagine that makes things rather complicated--dinnertime especially.

We do, but we do not hunt Talking Beasts, it would be like murdering a guest.

So there are two types, then? As you said, 'Talking Ducks' and 'mute ducks'.

How does one tell the difference? Or does one simply listen for the creature to shout?

Oh yes there are. The ones who talk are generally larger than those who don't. Reepicheep standing upright is almost knee high, he is the chieftain of the Talking Mouse Squadron.

Generally I think a Talking Beast would shout, some can be very vocal.

How strange to have animals that are somewhere between beast and human. I can't help but imagine how things must be in your world because of it.

There are centaurs and minotaurs too, and dwarfs who are the Sons of Earth.

What is your England like?

Not at all like your country, by the sound of it. Everything you've named--talking beasts, centaurs, minotaurs, and dwarfs--are the stuff of fairy tales and legends. We've only men and 'mute beasts' in my world.
