A few did, but I learned the expression is less a threat and more...well, it's supposed to be a compliment I think.

A compliment that doesn't sound like one at all, in any sense of the word. It's perplexing, to say the least.

Well there is also something to be said about the court being too stiff, middleground is best.

I do. I am not very fond of arrangements. A king must marry because he is to have a queen, but he should marry first for love, how can he love what continues to be forced upon him? How can a princess for that matter?

Oh. I see now, if it's that sort of thing. No, you're right, I'm...not very fond of arrangements like that, not at all. And I suppose I'm lucky in that my father isn't, either, so he likely wouldn't try to persuade me into one.

Unusual, unconventional, I think both can mean interesting or unique, and worth noticing.

Well, he said that in modern dating, you shouldn't let someone say you have a unique personality, because that means they think you're ugly.
