[Very very subdued shivering.]

Kara... unless you wish to practice in the snow I suggest we continue after this curse is over.

To the gentleman joining us for dinner... Jack Harkness, what would you like to eat?

[He shrugs once to that, not wanting to think about things that seem unclear even to himself. Thus, Caspian can't meet Edmund's eyes.]

I didn't think you had, but you should if you wish.

[So the Telmarine was right to believe Ed has more than one motive.]

I know your family is very close, they would miss you.

I do.

[He thinks it's only fair, after all. He likes Caspian and whilst his brother is a bit thick, it's not entirely impossible for anything to happen.]

I would miss them too. [Ed lets off a small sigh soft.] You, as well.

[Sometimes, maybe, Edmund needs to think some things through.]

I don't know actually. Now that I think about it, why would I want to move?

[Just as easily letting that subject die its horrible and slow death to discuss Edmund Pevensie instead.]

That is a good question to ask yourself.

I spent one month's time becoming accustomed to Peter's presence... now we have five, and six if Sarah intends to come back.

One that has no answer.

[Edmund has a right well think about it.]

Are you saying you'll miss me or something if I leave, Caspian?

[It's a joke. Edmund grins. He really should stop making them in lieu of serious talks, really.]

I think I would, but I could alleviate my solitude by visiting often.

[Returning a smile.]

And cooking!

[The grin splits wide. Edmund really does have ulterior motives. Caspian's food and Susan's care packages while he's gone-- oh, he'll be fatter than ever out of the house than he will be in it.]

No worries. I'll be around for another week or two more. So you can suffer with me until you end up actually missing me.

[A sigh, neither heavy nor light.]

If you insist, Edmund.

[A smile.]

All the time.

[A friendly pat to Caspian's back, turns to glance over at all the melting snow. Too late for a snowball fight, it seems.]

At least the weather will be back to normal, or so is the hope.

[He nods.]

This place is just weird.

[That sums it all the right way up.]

I don't suppose you might take an interest in a little swordplay.

[This has nothing to do with the plan to make Edmund gain weight of course.]

[Turns to give him a curious eye. Oh, Caspian. Is that a challenge? You should know better.]

Any time, King. Provided, I'd like a sword for one.

One I shall gladly provide, Edmund the Just.

[It only takes a quick shuffle back into the flat to pick up what he and Peter have been amassing for a month: weaponry. Call them old fashioned, amongst the broadswords, sideswords, and rapiers, there isn't a single firearm.]

Here.

[He offers Edmund a traditional one-hander.]

From: [identity profile] lionpassant.livejournal.com
[Edmund makes a face at it. Not that he's insulted at the assumption of which weapon he'd like, rather, it's fine all the same. But how unfair! They haven't been sharing this weaponry all this time without his knowledge!]

This has been where you've been hiding it?

[He gives it an idle swing in one hand. The weight feels good and familiar in his hand. It's been too long. Two weeks, the feel of a blade is refreshing.]

No one asked.

[He shrugs once, eh heh... Caspian has his much more recognizable Narnian clothing on, but without his brigandine. He brings a jacket instead, nevermind how strange it looks over the not-so-modern clothing.]

From: [identity profile] lionpassant.livejournal.com
[Sigh. He so did too. Edmund can't remember when exactly, but he remembers he has asked. Oh well. What's done is done. What wasn't asked, well, wasn't.

Edmund changes into some clothes he's borrowing off Peter. Looser pants, sticks with his jumper.]

Don't blame if I hurt you. [He says as soon as they're outside, swinging about the sword idly. He's not usually cocky, he knows better than that. Today, Edmund can't help it.]

From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
Don't say I didn't warn you not to underestimate me.

[He's relaxed as well, but it's that state of looser muscles and higher guard. Caspian's brought a cut and thrust blade with him, though it isn't his Telmarine one.]

Here.

[They're farther in the woods now with enough space for two.]

From: [identity profile] lionpassant.livejournal.com
[Again with the presumptions! Edmund really should stop. It doesn't bode well to be so full of it.]

After you, King.

[He eyes Caspian's blade in hand, quick, agile, dangerous. A typical cut and thrust. Edmund is cautious He doesn't want to feel the end of that, he's seen Caspian handle it. Edmund does something in mockery of a bow. Him first, Edmund will follow.]

Date: 2008-07-29 12:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
[He returns the bow in the formal way of Telmarine duels, the non-lethal variety, and immediately spins, lunging forward to cut at Edmund's shins.]

[Edmund jumps back; a lithe leap of avoidance.

Dangerous, dangerous! He sees the shine and sheen on that thing. It can and will cut. Edmund doesn't want to test it out.

The nice thing about being young means he never had his scars to begin with. Edmund doesn't want them back if he can avoid it.

He pulls back, works his blade down in a sharp slide.]

First to draw blood.

[Caspian adds, almost forgetting the conditions of their spar! A little blood never hurt anyone, and dismemberment is off limits. He doesn't mention whether blood from the face is allowed.]

Hff!

[He draws his own sword back, making that cold sound of razor edge sliding against razor edge to avoid Edmund trapping his own blade at the hilt. Even in the snow what Caspian lacks in sheer strength he makes up for in speed. When their swords part he lunges forward again to poke at Edmund's side.]

From: [identity profile] lionpassant.livejournal.com
[That makes things all the more easier then. But for who? Either Caspian or Edmund? Edmund isn't quite sure.]

I present no argument.

[Edmund is barely able to twist out of the way. He is no good with this blade. Lightness doesn't bother him, it's the width that's the problem. It either should be thinner than this, or broader. Something in the middle doesn't bode well for him. He's only able to smack sword away from sword in idle compromise. He spins, drops down to slash at Caspian's feet.]

From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
[He nods, acknowledging Edmund's agreement--hey there sword! Caspian has to spread his stance wider to avoid getting his foot cut. This makes getting back upright with Edmund in front a little more difficult, so the Telmarine does what he knows best. He continues moving forward in a full circle, spinning his weight on one toe only as a trained dancer would before his other foot lands, opening his side to Edmund if the other man is quick enough to take advantage of it. They're much too close to use their swords without severely injuring each other, but no one ever said punches are illegal moves.]

[Caspian's gotten better. He must be training with Peter from time to time.

Edmund thinks Caspian plays a bit unfair but fine, if that's how Caspian wants it done. Than this is the way it will be played. He smacks his fist forward to make use of the open leeway. Edmund pulls himself upward, sword in hand. He has little time to admire Caspian's moves, any other time he would be in awe of it. Now, not so.]

From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
[BAM. Those knuckles connect with his face and Caspian stumbles away, gaining the distance he wanted albeit not in the way he wanted. His lip is cut open.]

This one does not count.

[He gestures to the blood staining the back of his hand after he touches the wound. Edmund is much more formidable than he can ask for, and Caspian places both hands on his own sword to swing it across the man's chest. They're moving across the melting snow faster, deeper into the woods.]
