treadingdawn: (Cas - makes an oath)

It has been several days since I came face to face with this unusual situation. Now that I have had much time for deliberation, I think I can safely say...

Noah Bennet and I do not look anything alike.

I mean no offense to Mr. Bennet, of course.

No. Not at all.

[Not that Caspian is offended, rly.]

I am unsure if she has siblings.

What does he look like.

[It's difficult not to laugh at his expression. Susan manages.]

I sometimes wonder what it is like to not have siblings.

He has light chestnut hair. He stands about this tall.

[Gesturing.]

And he has a bit of a squarish face. He also wears glasses.

I wouldn't call your face square-ish. And...I think your hair is darker than a chestnut.

[Does her very best to try and picture.]

I'll have to meet him. I'm sure then I'll see what you mean.

He's very nice nonetheless.

[Pulling his bare foot up onto the couch. Think think. Oh he asks anyway.]

What is your father like?

[Smiles.]

That's good to hear. [Some people aren't given kind family members.]

My father is a very pleasant man. He enjoys how things are put together and how they work, like radios or watches. Even though he likes peace and quiet, he never would send us away.

[You don't have to say that twice.]

He sounds like someone worth meeting.

[He is with them now. Like family.]

I think he would like you! Wouldn't that be funny if he came here too?

[Only temporarily is the fear.]

And your mother? What would she think of you all not attending school.

[He's teasing of course.]

Mother would worry more about us being in a strange place and getting in to trouble. I think that if she knew how well we were keeping house she would be impressed.

[Pause.]

I-I had thought about going to school.

[Her brow furrows a little. That's a small shade of guilt.]

A little. I don't care much for school. But it is something that young people do for a reason.

[What, why! He didn't mean to make her feel guilty.]

What reason is there beyond learning?

Learning is important, Caspian! Not everyone learns how to multiply or divide. It's very useful with money and other things.

I think that all things considered we are pulling through together well.

You can always read a good amount of books.

[Still missing the socialization aspect of schooling, yep.]

I don't know if they would teach the same things in a City version of school.

[Only more boys to say your name is Phyllis to.]

[Those poor boys don't stand a chance.]

I think that thanks to you and Peter my swordsmanship is coming along nicely. I wanted to learn how to sword fight.

[They just are not her type. It's difficult being a queen. Caspian can't understand that.]

I'd like to learn another language sometime. I've heard it is difficult.

Have you thought about going to school here?

Well I do like to think that we are good teachers.

[Caspian more so than Peter, hah.]

Another language? Like what?

[However at that he gives her a curious look. Boy Kings don't need to go to school, dude.]

No...

Trying my hand at it knowing that you both know what to do is a big comfort.

[Both, she thinks really.]

French sounds very pretty. Latin is what they teach in school, it sounds so stuffy though.

[She puts her hands on her hips, playfully.]

And why not?

What does French sound like?

["I'm almost seventeen. I helped lead a rebellion. I fought in many battles. I'm King now."]

I was always privately tutored, it would very different...

[Looks upward and thinks a moment.]

Souffle, sorbet, parle vous Francois? Something like that.

[Leans back into the chair.]

I know. It never hurts to try new things. Being privately tutored must have been so straining with having one person paying attention to you the entire session.

[Unfamiliar with the language, most definitely.]

It could be... but I became very good at evading lessons, for a little while. Doctor Cornelius is an excellent teacher, he managed to make my education somewhat interesting.
