A castle for a day is better than no castle at all, right?

Things seem quiet. So tell me about your world. Tell me what makes you wonder, if perhaps what you have there might be found elsewhere or even here. I will start.

Where I am from we have gryphons. They are a bit like a lion with an eagle's tail, face, talons, and wings. For many years I didn't know they existed in my world, much less on other worlds. To be honest, at the time I was unaware that other worlds even existed at all. I have come to learn Narnia is not the only place with gryphons and it's interesting to hear how different they are for other people.

But flying with a gryphon is still hard to match in excitement and majesty.

So tell me about unicorns or krakens, dragons or drop bears, and share with me what makes you wonder.

They probably turn back to stone until the sun sets again.

That isn't a lot of time to explore the city...and from what Charles has told me no one in your world sleeps.

I'm sure he'll also tell you anything worth doing is done long after sundown. Which is why it's unlikely the living gargoyles are more than just a rumor.

A friend and I believe you should spend a night just watching the gargoyles. You may borrow our swords if the rumor turns out to be a truth.

It would take a lot to convince Chuck to come with me. He has other uses for his time back home, as I'm sure he'll tell you.

I know he runs a place like Victrola in New York, but he has never spoken of schooling or other things.

He's actually very busy back home. He's poised to take over his father's company when he turns eighteen and he's been learning the ropes.

...That is a heavy responsibility. Do you do something similar too?

No, no. I'm just a student.

But you're going to learn a lot. I never did school as a student with other students, I had a private tutor. I didn't get to meet many people.

I don't think either extreme is ideal but I sometimes think I'd prefer the private tutor. Some of the people I went to school with made the experience less than enriching.

I've heard some stories like that from others too. If I had siblings I would have had schoolmates, but I am an only son. I learned what I needed to, in any case.

I have a younger brother. Actually, we were homeschooled for a bit when we moved to Chamonix. It wasn't so bad but you do miss people when you go from a full classroom to a private tutor.

What are you studying if I may ask?

Not much at the moment. I'm about to graduate back home but when I get to college I think I want to go into education. I'd like to teach English in third world countries.

Would it be a stretch to say you would rather teach a class than one student?

Not a stretch at all. In my world if I were teaching just one student I would most likely be working for a family just like mine. The point is kind of to get away from all of that.

What kind of place would you go to? I know Earth has many other lands like China, Australia, Texas, and Hollywood.

I was thinking South America. Which leaves the vast lands of Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Equador, and even more that I won't try to name off the top of my head.

Is Narnia the only land there is there?

Those are a lot of kingdoms...

No, there's Narnia, Archenland, Calorman, the unclaimed wilderness west of those three, what used to be Telmar, the mountains north of Ettinsmoor, and the islands in the Eastern Sea.

That's only a few, there's a lot more.

It sounds much bigger than I thought.

It is big, and some of it unexplored. Have you seen most of those land son Earth?
