How long have you been here, Princes?

A whole day now. My daddy came here to talk to the king on very important business. And I got to come too! But I don't get to listen to the nego--negotiatinons, and I don't know where the castle is, anyway.

I'm supposed to have a knight but I can't find him anywhere. But I'm okay!

Mother says I'm not old enough to demand things yet. I have to wait 'till I'm queen.

I tried! I said "I decree that I can go as far as Lake Maylie before I have to come home again" and then I went and I got in trouble for going too far by myself.

Since I was born, silly! My daddy is a king and my mother is a queen so I'm a princess.

When I was in my tenth year as prince I rode to the river to catch fish by my own royal decree. It was a good idea at the time.

Did you get in trouble, too? And did you catch lots of fish?

Oh yes I did. In fact, those who caught me shared the meal.

I know how to fish! I'm not very good at it, though. You have to be really patient.

Perhaps it was best I was caught in time then. I might have been there all day and night.

Uh-huh! You have to sit and sit and sit and be really quiet and not jump around or anything, or you'll scare the fish. And sometimes if you do catch a fish you have to throw it back 'cause it's a magic fish!

What kind of magic fish have you caught?

I didn't catch any, but my daddy caught one once. It was big and gold and talked, and he threw it back and it gave him a ride across the ocean! That's how he got to the tower where Mother was.

Oh. Well I would release a Talking Fish too but I don't know if any of the ones in Narnia would take me across the ocean...unless he was a whale.

Is that your kingdom? My kingdom is called Daventry but I've never heard of one called Narnia. It must be really far away.

Just one thing? I like my castle! ...And my tree, and my garden, and I like visiting Ifnkovhgroghprm 'cause he tells me stories, and I like the king of the leprechauns, too. Can I have more than one favorite?

He's a gnome. He's been friends with my daddy for a really long time, and he made me a marionette for my birthday! He showed me how to make it dance and everything.
