[Is this for real?]

[Why yes. Yes it is.]

Hello. Um, this is Caspian--

[BEEEEEEEEEEEP. Sultry woman's voice:]

Hola. Caspian del buzón de voz está roto. Esta es su refrigerador.
Por favor, hable muy despacio y voy a mantener su mensaje a mi mismo con un imán!
Gracias.

[Jingle jingle jingle. There's a big black horse, sleigh, and driver pulling up beside him.]

Do you need a ride?

From: [identity profile] playstheblues.livejournal.com
[Oh, hello. Blue nods and puts down his bag in the sleigh, then uses his arm to climb up]

Thank you.

[Oh, for the days of a flying carpet]

[Almost about to offer assistance with the bag or the arm but Blue manages to help himself.]

Where to, Blue?

Actually...

[He looks back and reaches into his bag. He doesn't fall over, hooray!]

I have a gift for you. And to the lake, please.

Oh... thank you.

["But I don't have a gift for you, except this sleigh ride."]

Come on, Destrier.

[A little tap tap of the reins gets the horse jingling along.]

[It's a 1930's-1940's songbook!]

Um.

And...I wanted to apologize. About...my behavior, lately. And the other day.

[This is one of those cases where you can actually read and drive. Caspian even recognizes one of the songs although he doesn't say so.]

Thank you, Blue. It's all right.

[He doesn't address that in detail.]

I wanted...to tell you.

[He looks at the book]

If you need any help, just let me know. I thought that...you and Peter might like it.

I appreciate that, Blue.

[But let it not be a concern anymore--wait a minute.]

The whole family would, I think.

[Not JUST Peter and him... really.]

[Pause]

Well. Right. Of course.

[Totally not]

And also, if I could leave the presents for the Pevensies with you? I have some stuff...

[He sort of just looks at Blue for a moment. Like you know, what.]

....

[Riiiiiight.]

Yes you can. And your Christmas, how has it been?

[Stare back. Like. Sorry. Peter told]

....

[ANYWAY]

Cori got me a boar. We had a nice Christmas lunch.

Have you been out all day?

[Whaaaaaat.]

.....

[Okay now.]

A boar? Those exist in these forests? I think Arthur was looking for one.

I have.

[Jingle jingle.]

It was a very big boar.

You're not cold? I don't like snow very much.

Have you eaten it all?

I am all right, I came prepared.

[Pinching his scarf and gloves and wool coat and things.]

Why don't you like the snow?

No, there are a lot of leftovers.

[Not the eyes though!]

I lived somewhere where it snowed a lot, for a long time. It's just a lot of trouble. You have to shovel it and clear it and you can't drive through it, and it gets everything wet.

[Well deserved, those eyes, thank you very much.]

I thought you lived in Albion. Does it snow there, a lot?

SAD BOY IN SNOW

From: [identity profile] playstheblues.livejournal.com
It snows in Albion, and in the Rus, and in upstate New York.

Although the Rus was the worst. I didn't have anywhere to stay.

When I was younger, I liked snow more.

You have been to many places.

What changed, if you do not mind my asking?

From: [identity profile] playstheblues.livejournal.com
I've traveled a lot. I think I'm done traveling.

Oh, when you're young, you have to like snow. It's a requirement of being a kid, I think. And I do like to sled and ice skate...but um.

Well, I just got tired of all the cold.

[He pauses and looks at his hand]

And Lumi, a little.

[He doesn't add to the requirements of being a kid, having missed out on many of them.]

A common enemy?

From: [identity profile] playstheblues.livejournal.com
Lumi is...the Snow Queen.

[He pauses and reaches into the bag. There was a book, a book of Fairy Tales that he had given to Sarah, and he had planned on giving to Rosella.]

In Kay's Homeworld. She kidnapped him, and kept him prisoner for many, many years.

And then she joined the Adversary. So I suppose, that common enemy would describe her.

[He shows Caspian]

[But not Jadis? Although it would be easy to mistaken one for the other. What is it with vile women and winter.]

I see. But the snow isn't bad all the time.

[Blame Jack. That's Blue's solution]

No, it isn't. And it can be pretty. Like tonight.

That certainly is true.

[He smiles as Destrier jingle jangles to the lake. He is unaware of the possibly hibernating blue creature that resides under it.]

Here we are.
