Date: 2009-04-13 08:33 am (UTC)That was an understatement. Caspian enjoyed drinking to a point where some, like Claire Bennet felt it was a problem, but not once had he ever done anything foolish in a stupor. Well... not foolish, maybe not fatal? Losing his dinner was another story and just not fit for polite conversation between friends. Not yet anyway. But not as sheltered as Chuck feared? Absolutely. Public image was, unfortunately, ingrained in his being.
"You can tell Tybalt I sent you. He will know my name. We met here but we are like cousins. He is as Telmarine as I am Capulet," he nodded cheerfully.

Date: 2009-04-14 01:37 am (UTC)"I have heard of such laws, mostly on Earth. I fear that the people of your world might be horrified to hear I was practically weaned on brandy by the age of five," said the Telmarine. Was it a joke? Well, his secret, hehehe. "One of the many differences between our worlds," he nodded, "but I would still enjoy visiting."
Living was another matter entirely, one he wasn't prepared to discuss.

Date: 2009-04-14 08:23 am (UTC)"So, if you ever visit, look me up, no excuses. I'm gonna show you what the Upper East Side has to offer to friends of Chuck Bass. And believe me, people from my world aside, it takes much more to horrify me than being weaned on brandy before you're a teen," he told Caspian firmly, with his trademark smirk.

I do mean it, there are many things I have heard about Earth that make it seem like a fascinating place. I want to see New York, and London, a place called New Orleans," his pronunciation was sketchy, "and China."
He leaned against the wall, head tilted up to gaze at the high ceiling of the fencing hall.
"None of it sounds like anything we have in Narnia, which isn't to say Narnia isn't worth visiting either. It is, and more so now than ever before," he nodded.

Date: 2009-04-14 08:46 am (UTC)He looked at Caspian. The other man seemed relaxed, melancholic even. At the back of his head he analysed what it would take to show Caspian all the places he wanted to visit. Thank God for the private jet and owning hotels all over the world.
"What do you mean?" he asked when Caspian mentioned Narnia. "It wasn't worth visiting before?"

Date: 2009-04-14 08:50 am (UTC)"It was..." he started, "but things were a bit different. They are better now, I assure you." He said it like it mattered to Chuck, but really it was just a way for Caspian to reassure himself.

Date: 2009-04-14 09:00 am (UTC)"I mean, you don't have to tell me, if you don't want to," he quickly corrected himself. "The quiet, mysterious warrior image works just fine for you," he assured Caspian with a smile.

Date: 2009-04-14 09:15 am (UTC)"No, no thank you. I do not need that kind of image," he shook his head, remember what else Telmarines are 'supposed' to be. "Aside from being very good with drink, my people are also very proud. We take what we need, what we want, without regard for the price. My forefathers did anyway," Caspian nodded. "We invaded Narnia," he continued, not at all hesitating from sharing the truth, "we drove out many of those who lived there previously, to near extinction. Several generations later, in the year when I was sixteen, a chain of events began that eventually led to a revolution for the Old Narnians. We made peace between our people, Telmarines and Narnians alike, with the help of my friends the Pevensies, who were the Kings and Queens of Old."
After a thoughtful moment Caspian added, "I am sure that was more than you wanted to know."

Date: 2009-04-14 09:32 am (UTC)The rest of Caspian's story was... a little unbelievable. But since he was stuck in a City between worlds, listening to a clock counting down to an apocalypse... Yeah, he could buy the big revolution in a galaxy far, far away.
"Don't be riddiculous. It's always good to know your friends are close with the royalty," he said with a smirk.

Date: 2009-04-14 10:05 am (UTC)"No it's complicated. There are ways to travel between Earth and Narnia but none of them are ways we control on our own. Aslan can... but only Aslan. This world was foreign to all of us until we arrived," Caspian explained... or tried to.

Date: 2009-04-14 11:18 am (UTC)"So, only this Aslan guy can control who can travel to Narnia and who can travel to Earth?" he tried to clarified. "Can't you just ask him to let you go for a short visit? I mean, I assume you're some sort of a war hero, or revolutionary, or whatever term you have there... There should be some perks for that, right?" Chuck reasoned, trying to translate the way his own, Bass-centric world worked, into a completely new reality.

Date: 2009-04-14 11:27 am (UTC)Briefly there flashed a sad look to Caspian's eyes, but he shook it off as quickly as he could. "No... It doesn't work like that, Chuck," he shook his head but smiled, thankful for the other man's enthusiasm in a sense. It was a nice thought, to be that ambitious for such a cause. Caspian empathized.

Date: 2009-04-14 12:02 pm (UTC)There was always that more sentimental strategy of bringing Earth to Cas, if Caspian couldn't come to Earth. He wondered how many people would have to be bribed for that. Something to think about in his spare time.
"To be honest, it sounds even more riddiculous than our laws regarding drinking," Chuck pointed out. He stood up and stretched his muscles. Still slightly sore from the lesson, he grimaced.
"Come on, let's go back to the City, we can discuss more pleasant topics on the way," he suggested with a smile.
