I am almost sorry to see them take their leave. They were quite the challenge, but also quite the mess. Twenty-three is still a good number.

[ At that, Zach rolls his eyes and then smirks. ]

Maybe! Doctor Suresh. Hm. I guess I just think of him as Mohinder because he's Claire's friend. Or 'the-guy-who-talks-a-lot'. He's a good guy. I just don't remember he has the 'doctor' title usually.

But er, I guess you're used to be...you do prefer 'Caspian' right?

[ He's not about to say 'your highness' or the like unless it's called for. It's not really how he rolls, even if he is sort of in casual, hanging-out, chilling with Caspian awe. ]

[He says of Mohinder, though Caspian definitely recalls the first time Mohinder and Zach spoke to him, about dating Claire. At his own name though the Telmarine King nods.]

Caspian. You are no subject of mine in this place.

[His tone is modest, but there's some restrained mild resentment too, in that half the City would scoff at the idea of Caspian being a king anywhere.]

[ For a moment, Zach frowns because the mild resentment there is palpable, but he doesn't take it personally in the least, because it's Zach and by definition, Zach takes so little personally that it'll probably land him in social-circle trouble one day. If he ever uh, gets a social circle. Okay, maybe that's an unwarranted fear. ]

Yeah, makes sense. Just thought I'd make sure. I don't usually go with titles but, being a king is different, I think. So if you preferred that....

[ He trails off, looking away, and it's one of those scenes where in slapstick he might start whistling to cover slight nerves but he doesn't whistle, just looks slightly away still. ]

[While Caspian has no idea where Zach is coming from, besides Texas, he does feel slightly sheepish now for not keeping his pride in check. He speaks in a lighter tone.]

If you are ever in Narnia you may address me by my full title at least once. We wouldn't want the court to grow jealous of your familiarity.

Until then, Caspian will do.

[He's half joking and half serious about that, really. Of course, this is coming from the boy who lives with and refers to the Kings and Queens of Olde by their first names.]

[ A chuckle escapes and he considers whether it's rude or not before realizing he usually doesn't think too closely about this stuff to begin with and brushes said consideration away, leaning back onto the porch as well, arms behind his head. He knows he'll never go to Caspian's world, that's...well, it's a book, let's be frank, he thinks to himself. But the idea is sort of alluring in that, 'I always wondered if this was real' sort of way and he spaces out for a moment before blinking and angling his head to turn toward Caspian again.]

I see you didn't lose any teeth.

[Isn't Zach grateful they don't own a TV? The Pevensie+Caspian household has no TV of any sort, though they do have a CD player courtesy of Boy Blue.]

[Caspian flashes a smile as if he needs to prove it to Zach, but only one person knows he did lose a tooth not too long ago, far back along his lower jaw. Fortunately it's not visible.]

[Zach has no idea how grateful he is for that, but he is VERY grateful, believe you, me. When Caspian flashes said smile, he grins in return, nodding in approval. ]

Nice. And uh no, not me.

I just kind of would swat them away when they got too close or throw a dictionary at them.

I used my blades, though another man I spoke to said he had taken care of seventy-five of them with magic.

I much prefer manual elimination.

I uh, well I don't know if I prefer it but I don't really have any---- [Almost, he says 'powers' but stops himself short before hurrying on with....] it's the only way I have? I don't do magic and I don't know swords or whatever soooo yeah.

Yes, seventy-five. That was my reaction, though I am sure Aslan could take much more than that.

[He looks at Zach a moment, wondering what he would've said had he not stopped himself. He knows of Claire and Sylar's secrets and considers if Zach has one too. But Caspian won't push it (no need to underscore Zach's lack of 'superpower').]

You take care of yourself well enough.

[It's a compliment on self-sufficiency, or something.]

[Propping himself back up on his elbows, he looks back over at Caspian, making a Zach face at that statement, as if to say: take. care. of?

And then he laughs a bit and shrugs. ]

If I can take care of myself, no one else has to. They've got their own things to worry about.

[Oh, don't think he didn't catch that. He looks over to Zach too, making eye contact as if to say: You know of Aslan? Fortunately his statement distracts Caspian.]

Do they? Do you?

[He asks, seriously. Caspian has made feigning ignorance an artform, but in this case he'd rather know the severity of their situation if he can help it... without breaking his word to Claire.

I don't know how much you, uh, know.

[ Zach puts it bluntly for everyone's sake and sits all the way up, and if Caspian's still leaning back on his elbows, then this is one of the rare times he's actually looking down at him, and he opens his mouth to say one thing, only to close it and say another.]

Let's see. The City is full of weird people, some of them are dangerous. One in specific, he's kind of got something against Claire and I guess Mohinder...I don't know all of the details even. I'm just...

[ And here he's careful not to have an accidental self-pity moment because it's just not his style, but that doesn't mean the slight pang isn't there. It is. He just brushes it off. ]

...so yeah, one less thing or body for them to worry about. It's nothing, pretty much.

[ There, he says it without pity or disdain, or any sort of particular feeling at all really, just a matter of fact.]

[Fair enough, this is one of the rare times he's actually looking up at Zach. But Caspian doesn't respond to his first remark, to do so would give himself away. After a moment he does sit up so that they're eye to eye again.]

That is true.

[He says about the City being full of weird people, dangerous people. Now it's Caspian's turn to open his mouth to say one thing, only to pause and say another. He remembers Claire's words, "You'd never stand a chance."]

If you have any trouble, Zach, you can always call for me. Narnia never ignores a friend in need.

[ That offer of help is completely appreciated but at the same time, the truth is, and Zach is all too aware of it, he's never been the one in need of help. The guy, that Sylar, is always after the others, after Claire. He doesn't sound interested in normal people. ]

Thank you. Mostly, I just want Claire to be safe though.

[Still looking right at Caspian, he pauses before continuing very quietly.]

But if I ever needed help for some reason, I'd remember you said that. So thanks....er...again.

[But targeting the normal people to get to the special people, now there's a scheme in the making. But he promised both Claire and Peter that he wouldn't let his temper take him to Sylar first. Caspian smiles, this time it's a bit proud and steel willed.]

Good.

[He offers Zach his hand for a gesture of camaraderie and solidarity. Don't mind Caspian, he's old fashioned like that.]

[ And Zach stares at the hand for a second before the 'duh' moment happens and he offers his own.]

It's kind of stupid probably but, I'm not as worried as other people. I really think we can keep her safe.

[ Looking down, he pauses.]

But we can use all the extra help we can get. Plus, she trusts you, which is pretty big.

[ Raising his head again to look directly at Caspian again he thinks about his next words before deciding to say them still anyway. ]

I'm mostly a computer geek, but uh, if you or the Pevensies ever need any help with anything, I'm available usually. It's still weird not going to school five days out of seven.

[He gives Zach a firm grip. It's not quite a shake more so than it is a kingly squeeze, just a gesticulated confirmation, then he releases Zach's hand. At his remark, Caspian wonders if Zach likes Claire but doesn't question it.]

You are confident, and that is important too.

[He smiles at that, perhaps shyly even. Never did King Caspian X think he could earn the trust of a cheerleader.]

Thank you, Zach. I will remember that as well.

The Pevensies no longer study for exams either. Well, Lucy attends school here, but I am sure that Peter, Susan, and Edmund do not miss it. They have been schooled in the ways of war, rule, and revolution. What must you study after that?

[Oh, Caspian's rambling again.]

[ He listens politely to said rambling, because frankly, if you've been around Mohinder, anyone else's so-called rambling isn't even comparable. That's not a bad thing, really, or a good thing, but Zach smiles a bit, slightly upturned corners of his mouth apparent. ]

Well there's always English, Science, Math, and uh, for some weird reason, P.E.

[ It's a leading statement, but that's okay it seems, in this conversation. ]
