I encountered a blue being in one of the forest lakes today. I half-expected it to speak but it only sang, much like a Naiad. What queer creature is this?

That's the one! That's what he would always sing when he was living with us. He's really nice and affectionate.

There are Half Man-Half Beasts and Talking Beasts and Dryads and Naiads.

We don't have any of those back home! Well, we do in books. Like fairy tales and things like that where it's all fantasy and magical.

Ah, Peter is from England, the same England as Toshiko's. Of a different time, however. There must be more parallels than imaginable.

The Gold Rush is a time in American history when everyone was traveling west to hunt for gold after it was discovered in a river out there.

That's what happens when people get greedy though. So, no more gold hunts. It was a long time ago anyways. Like two hundred-ish years ago.
