treadingdawn: (let's talk history)

There is a man trapped in an apartment with two bound young ladies for dinner.

So where can I find a special kind of clover? Preferably for good luck? He may need it.

He's going to eat the girls?

But you said, quote, two bound young ladies for dinner. That implies the man is about to cannibalize them. That is not good.

Sweetie. Caspian isn't trying to say this guy is the next Gormogon.

But-- ...oh. He implied the man was there with the girls for the duration of dinner time. Well, he should have been more precise.

Yes. Maybe. I'm sure other people thought the same.

[No, only you got that mixed up, Brennan. Sorry.]

When I have the Archenland Ambassador for dinner the last thing I am doing is cooking him.

...Right. I mistook your wording. Though in my defense, I've dealt with several cannibals before. It's not an impossible scenario.

Is that some kind of innuendo?

voice;

Which part? Innuendo means indirect or subtle implication or insinuation, often lewd or derogatory in nature.

Well. Someone told me to look it up.

[Innocent. Maybe.]

[Pause. She's just confused as all heck now.]

Maybe misunderstanding is a better descriptive. At least on my part.

There are two girls bound together in an apartment. To my understanding they are 'cuffed' and an acquaintance of theirs is going to remedy the situation.

[Pause. Then he adds.]

For the duration of dinner.

Yes. I understand the situation, now.

[A beat.]

I'm sorry I mistook you for a cannibal. That was... presumptuous and probably a little rude.

It's all right.

Are those common in your world?

voice;

Date: 2010-04-18 10:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bonescientist.livejournal.com
Not terribly, thankfully. In some societies it is still practiced, though those are quite rare nowadays. If one practices cannibalism, they are most likely mentally unwell.

Where I come from we do not eat Talking Beasts, much less any human.

[Those pesky giants on the other hand...]

Well, normally, we do not either. But some people can be mentally disturbed in a way that drives them to consume human flesh.

[Wait.]

...Talking Beasts?

voice;

From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
I see... And yes, Talking Beasts. Beasts that talk.

[There has to be a better way to explain this.]

A badger with speech?

voice;

[Long silence.]

You have animals that actually speak? In words? They form recognizable phonetic combinations such as the ones we are using to converse now?

voice;

Date: 2010-04-18 11:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
[Also a long silence.

Very long.

And then...]

Yes we do.

voice;

From: [identity profile] bonescientist.livejournal.com
Really? That is fascinating! Do they all talk, or is speech unique to some special line of divergence or mutation in specific species?

voice;

Date: 2010-04-18 11:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com
No not all of them, that's why there are beasts then there are Talking Beasts. A Talking Bear will be much larger than a mute bear, and even the smallest of Talking Bears will be the biggest of the mute ones.
